7: 30 pm. Ray should be home at this time.
My eyes were really swelling. I tried to wash my face but it was futile, I cried too much.
"Granny, don't leave me. Please?" I said, as I cried beside my grandmother who was dying from a heart disease.
Granny gave a soft pat on my back, like what she would do every time I cry. She did it again, no matter how hard it is for her to move for she was very weak. "Silly little boy, don't fear death. It's a part of life."
"Granny is going to somewhere better. You should be happy!" She wiped the tears from my eyes and held my little hands. "Good night now little boy, Granny's going to rest." And she breathed her last breath, smiling.
Granny didn't fear death. She accepted it, arms wide open. But I couldn't.
I used to promise her that I'll see her soon in that "better place" she used to tell me. But I seemed to be trying to avoid that promise I made.
Tears fell from my eyes, again when I heard Ray's footsteps getting in to my room. My eyes were still swelling, so I was left with no choice but to pretend I was sleeping.
"Oh you're asleep now." Ray said softly, as he slowly bent down to kiss my forehead.
I tried my best not to move, and fortunately, I was able to fall asleep.
