Chapter 1 (soz couldn't think of a better title)

My name is Emma Hemlock. Yes, I know, my surname is a poisonous plant. Sounds pretty evil, right? Never did I know that I am evil! It all started when me and my best friend, Izzy, went to the traveling fair. We thought it would be fun if we went to see the fortune teller but as soon as she saw me she was hypnotized and said " Your fortune will change but not in a pleasant way. Your evil soul will take over you." Me and Izzy just ran out after that.

We bumped into a middle-aged man. He stopped and stared at me. Izzy got slightly freaked out and tried dragging me along but for some absurd reason, I felt a connection with the man.

“Em, Em! Emma, come on, you’re starting to freak me out. He’s just some randomer, might be a perv!” Izzy pleaded.

“No, wait, just shut – up.”

“That’s right Izzy,” he emphasised Izzy’s name. “Just let Emma be.”

“How do you know our names?” asked Izzy but he just ignored her.

I kept staring into his dark murky eyes. It wasn’t his looks I was attracted to, he was quite ugly really. He had red messy hair. His skin was pale and his eyes were an unusual, yellow colour. Not a pretty sight. I wasn’t ‘attracted’ to him as such, but I just felt a connection. Inside. Izzy kept pulling me, and I eventually fell over. That’s when I snapped out of it. I lay there wondering what just happened.

“Come on! Gosh Em, what happened to you, you seemed so…mesmerised.”

“Hmmmm… I don’t really know,” I mumbled.

A few days later, we forgot about the little incident. But when the fair finally moved on, I bumped into Him again on my way to Izzy’s house.

“Emma, we meet again,” he announced.

“Urm…yeah…who are…you?” I stuttered.

“You do not need to know. Just follow me,” he ordered.

“No, no, I can’t, I nee…”

“You will come with me,” he interrupted sternly.

I followed obediently, not wanting to get on the wrong side of him. He led me past our local park and after about an hour of walking, I was exhausted, but we were there. Wherever ‘there’ was. It looked like it was an abandoned building.

“Sit,” he said, pointing to an old worn down chair. I sat down cautiously.

“So,” he began. “You must be wondering why you are here.”

I nodded.

“Well, Hemlock, I like you.”

He must have noticed I looked nervous because he reassured me.

“No, no. I like your blood.”

“My…my blood?” I asked him puzzled. I hadn’t given him any of my blood. How did he know?

“Yes, your blood is perfect for our vampire clan!” he said with an evil grin on his face.

My face went pale. I felt sickly. Vampires! Why did they want me?!

At that moment, I received a call from Izzy.

“Please. Do not answer the phone. If you tell anyone about this happening I will have you killed,” he threatened. He then gave me a card with his name and address on.

“Please address to me as Gavner.”

His full name was Gavner Kenn.

“You may leave now but tell this to no-one or I will have to kill you!”

The End
