Barbie Hands

The July rain poured down on our tiny hearts
and we ran through the streets, fighting for each other.
Hunting for flowers that had just bloomed,
Something beautiful to help us hold on for longer.
You used the sunshine as a crutch and I used you.

We carried it all so well.

The August rain poured down on our tiny hearts
and we ran through the streets, fighting for ourselves.
Hunting for flowers that had already been picked,
bragging from a vase in an unknown window.

summer is a season of separation,
and so we travel through the coldest of months,
running through puddles we had already bruised, just to sink a little more.
And we’ll carry it oh so well
