Journal of my writing of ASTRAL WINDS.

So, around eight months after I really started writing this novel, I am starting to see patterns in how I work. Over the summer, as I was still getting to know my characters and listen to what they had to say about their lives, extracts I wrote were very short, often no more than a few exchanges in dialogue and rarely longer than a page. Now, though, I can write more, and I learn infinitely about their friends and what makes them tick and it feels so fantastic to log it on here and see how many chapters I have managed to create. And it's so exciting, because I recognise this feeling, I get it in my stomach like a baby fire burning - I've got it with my other novels - and the more I write the bigger and longer the flames burn.

This whole novel writing lark, it's a part of me and it's so strong that someday, I'm just going to have to make a living out of it. If I'm successful enough, and people like my writing.

The End
