There is a sweet shop opposite were I ‘live’. I often gaze at the confectionary piled in the window, my mouth watering. Today as I did so, I saw a family or tourists: a mother, a father and two girls. The younger girl looked up and saw me. After a pause so did the other. And it was with shock and disbelief that I recognised Kate and her sister Natalie.
How could it be? They were about to leave, so I signed to Kate that she should meet me here tomorrow. She nodded just once.
It seems that my prayers - and no doubt everybody back home’s prayers too - had finally been answered. Life is looking up.
