14th February

Eleanor received a Valentine’s Day card today. Enclosed was a gold necklace. It was just a simple chain but looked expensive. She insisted on wearing it to school. It’s odd. I would have expected her to tell me if she had a boyfriend.

She was really late home today. When she arrived, it was after being dropped off by a swanky car. I didn’t recognise the drivers, and she refused to tell me when I asked her.

Although it’s almost one o’clock, she still hasn’t gone to bed. I’m worried that she might do something. She didn’t get home until seven, and was doing homework, but I don’t know what she is doing now. She’s just sitting there, smiling and laughing at nothing. I can’t sleep because her strangely cheerful, blank face haunts my mind.

The End
