I caught the butterfly in my hand. I squeezed tightly, and then opened my clenched fist to reveal the creature’s insides caking my palms. I stared at the bug then dropped it. Strangely enough, it slide right off my hand, as an oppose to sticking and staying there. Its mutilated corpse hit the barren ground and a small flush of dust engulfed it. With one swift shake of my wrist, the remains flew from my hand and I brought my foot down hard on it’s now dusty body.
“Worthless Creature” I thought to myself as I looked onwards. The lush grass swayed just metres away from me. It was truly amazing how land can simply change in an instant. I stood on a dry bronze dust mount, with nothing but sand behind me. Before me stood the tall grass. Flowers craning high into the skies and beyond that existed the urban horror that this world had become. I took a deep breath, like I did every day, and stepped forward.
In this world there are 3 main things. Our planet, our resources and our population. It’s selfish to say ‘our’ like we built this place, but we certainly did use as much as possible. You can shroud it with the shadow that we’re doing good; however, this harm we’re causing to our planet and our resources is only benefiting our population. We believe that in order to improve our planet, we must enjoy our living much more. To do this, we must build factories and abuse our resources for power. Power to improve our life. Power to make our life easier. People don’t understand that whilst we’re getting power, the earth is losing it’s power. Like we’re draining it’s energy. The monstrosities we are, destroying this wonder given to us. The human race is nothing but a selfish horde of beasts. Are we really the most intelligent life form on this planet?
My name is Red. A very plain and basic name, I know. The truth is, I have no real name. Nope, no traces. Never known my family, never will. I earned my name through lack of disrespect to others. Frankly, I don’t care about anything or anyone…well, with the exception of one thing. Because of this people said I was blood red. Blood red, the colour of death. No regard towards anyone. Some say I would go as far as to kill for what I want. Though that’s just selfish. There’s only one thing I want, and that to stop the selfishness. Even if that means killing someone, then sacrifices like being selfish will have to be made. For this new world, that I’ll build. As their new god.
