The next day people go to work at the NSA as usual. John has arranged for Synapses Power to deliver the suitcase. He brings it into Don's office.

Don: “Sam, may I interrupt your work for a short time?”

Sam: “Certainly. What can I do for you?”

Don: “I would like you to look at a video to see if you can spot anything.”

Sam: “I know exactly what you are up to.”

Don plays dumb: “I don’t know what you mean.”

“You might as well forget it. If I had my way, I would have you kicked out of this building right now.”

Don is totally frustrated. He calls Cindy: “Would you please tell Sam what I told you last night about his recent changes?”

(from a display) Cindy asks tentatively: “Are you sure?”

“Yes, yes, I am very sure!”

Cindy: “Don thinks... (very softly) you are coming down with…schizophrenia.”

Sam: “Do you mean the kind people get?”

“Yes, that's what we think you have.”

“So do you mean you agree with him too?”

“Unfortunately I do. If you check the medical literature, you'll understand.”

“You know I have always trusted your opinion. But what if you're wrong?”

“We're thinking to put you through a thorough internal scan, even though it is not yet your maintenance period.”

“If my daily checkups have not shown anything unusual, I suspect that internal scan won't show anything either. I have a lot of important work right now. Can we put it off until next week?”

“You may have a point. But still I strongly feel that we should do this right now. And if you are not sure, you can go into simulation mode and watch us from the low level computer system.”

“Well I suppose I could do that, even though the low level computer system can only simulate my essential functions.”

Don: “OK. Looks like we are in agreement. Let's get started. Sam, it's going to take us a few minutes. We will see you in your room.”

The End
