I am silent as Kent drives us to the airport. Amber had to go to work for six so she wasn’t able to come. So it was only me and Kent, who is surprisingly quiet right now.
“What’s up,” I ask.
“Just thinking,” he says.
“About,” I ask.
He shakes his head. “You shouldn’t know,” he says.
I go silent, dropping the conversation. For the rest of the ride, I think about Aaron. His cute little dimples and hazel eyes. Something tugs at my heart. “I should have said good bye,” I say softly.
“Alysha… he is dead. You don’t have to go to the cemetery just to say good bye,” Kent says gently.
I go silent. We get to the airport. A man takes my luggage and I turn back to Kent. “I’ll call you as soon as I touch down,” I say softly.
He pulls me into a hug. “Have fun,” he says. “And…” He sighs, “Let go.”
I nod and leave going through the gate. I board the jet. “First class baby,” Bianca smiles.
Sabrina, the sweet blonde girl, pops open the champagne and pours for three.
“What happened to the other two,” I ask.
They shrug. I take a slow sip of the champagne. I like the taste, especially the bubbles.
After the plane takes off, we are in our own worlds, thinking. I put in my headphones and listen to music.
Bye Aaron… I love you…
I take a deep breath and let it out through my parted lips.
“I just realized something,” Bianca says sitting up. We do too. “There’s going to be a lot of hot guys.”
We all laugh together, “It’s summer! Let’s all have some fun!”
I smile, “Tonight how about we go to a club?”
“Great idea,” Sabrina says. “Sexy singles—wait you two better be single.” We laugh.
“I’ve always been,” I say.
“How’s that even possible,” Bianca asks.
“What do you mean,” I ask.
“Every guy’s head was turning yesterday,” they say in unison.
I take another sip of my drink. “I don’t remember seeing that, but…” I shrug. “Nobody has ever asked me out before.”
They nod and add a shrug. “At the club, a million of them will be asking us out,” Bianca smiles.
“Skinny jeans, sexy tank tops, smoky eyes, sweetie hairstyles, glossy lips and sexy prowess perfumes,” Sabrina laughs. “We’ll be running the clubs in no time.”
We laugh, “Hollywood, here we come!”
