Prologue

I never saw this coming, any of this. We had everything perfect, every move was so pristine without a single fault. But what were we suppose to do when everything we were working for ended up being the disaster that shatters our existence? I watched as the embers fluttered from the towers of the castle and drifted in the air like snow falling from the heavens.

Skye, my  black Calipson-eyed wolf, stood at my side, her head rising slightly above my waist.  I rested my hand on her head and stroked the smooth spot between her eyes.

I missed West.  I didn't know where he was, or what he was doing and even after everything, I really missed him.  The emotinal pain of not having him here with me was almost physcial. And I had to find Elliot and Elaina before they did: the hypocritical traitors.

I fastened the dark green, crushed velvet cloak around my neck and sighed, watching as my long curls fluttered in the direction of the burning kingdom, begging me to go back and save what was left.  I pulled the hood over my head and walked away from the site.

Why would I risk my life for a place I had no stake in?
