"The Angels were all singing out of tune,
And hoarse with having little else to do,
Excepting to wind up the sun and moon
Or curb a runaway young star or two."

The girl ran in the dark, her footfalls were the only sound in the abandoned building. Her long hair, shadowed by the moonlight seeping through the large windows that acted as walls for the floor, flew behind her in haste. She ran for only god knew how long before she came to a dead end.
She turned and went back the way she came, this time turning down a second hallway that she had ignored before. Behind her, the shadow following her laughed in the darkness, their laughter sent chills up her spine. She crashed through spider webs and stepped on cockroaches that burst under her worn running shoes. The rooms flickered past as she ran blinded by the darkness.
The person following her knew the place by heart. They could sense her fear and find her out with a blink of an eye, but they liked the chase; the feel of power. They walked calmly, having locked the doors behind them they knew that the girl had no way out. She would eventually get tired of running and hiding. Her pursuer laughed.
The girl stopped suddenly in a room that she was trapped in and turned around. A shadow stood in the door frame and she stifled a scream. All that could be seen was a wide smile and a crinkling of eyes as the stranger laughed. Her heart hammered, she had to get out. She couldn't believe that this was happening to her, she was important.
Her family needed her.
The pursuer stepped forward and the girl stepped back towards one of the large windows. They moved swiftly and the girl reacted too rapidly and she tripped on a broken chair behind her, sending her flying out of the seventh floor through a terrifying hole that she had created in the window behind her with her body. A second passed and her body hit the ground with a sickening splat. Her world was black before she could even take a last breath.
