Chapter One begins below.

My name is Akemi Ayumu. I'm 15 years old, and I now reside inside Death City, and attend the Death Weapon Meister Academy. After the Forsaken Battle, that between the Grand Witch's disciples and DWMA's students, I surrendered myself to Lord Death to change my ways and become a Meister. Although I still have my magick, I vowed to keep in under the radar and use it only in desperate situations if me or my weapon's life is in danger. Today, I awoke more nervous than I was normally. Today was the day all the unmatched Weapons gathered in front of the academy to find their Meisters. I rolled out of bed, and lumbered on into the bathroom and looked into the mirror.

"You can do this, Akemi. Maka and Soul will sure be with you today. And Kid...he'll be there, I hope." I ran a hand through my thick violet hair, and stared myself down in the mirror.

"Akeeemmmmiiiiii!" A peppy voice cried from my front door. Blair. She was probably here to check up on me, since I lived next door to her, Maka, and Soul.

"Gah. Coming!" I called back, lugging my body to the door.

I turned the faded bronze knob to be greeted by the sight of Blair the Witch. She had the magick of Halloween, and could transform into a cat with a little witch hat. She always liked to show off her body, which irked me a little more than it should have. Blair held her hands up like paws against her flawless face, and smiled broadly at me.

"Akemi, are you ready to find yourself a weapon? You HAVE to make sure he's cute! And if it's a girl..." Blair trailed off.

"Eh, I'll be fine. Let me throw on my clothes and I'll be right over, alright?" My voice was awfully raspy, which was normal for me being as nervous as I was.

Blair bounced off next door and I turned around and yelled while aimlessly punching the air. I was so stressed. Why? Having Soul Protect on CONSTANTLY is something I was never prepared for. Then again, I was never prepared to surrender myself. I walked over to the closet and pulled out my black, zip upped dress with my monster mouth hood to throw over it. I fixated the belts, one across my waist and one connected behind my back to both arms. Slick, obsidian heels were waiting for me by the door.  Clicking them on, I closed my eyes I whispered a spell for mental strength and walked out, locking the door behind me.

Maka and Soul were waiting for me outside their door, We all smiled at each other, and began the trek to the DWMA. We were locked in silence until Maka started talking to me.

"So, Akemi, are you excited to meet your Weapon?" Her cheery voice reassuring as she folded her hands behind her back.

"Yeah, I guess. I'm so far behind everyone, though. It's embarrassing." I pulled my hood more over my forehead and brushed some hair out of my eyes.

"It's a cool moment. A Weapon meeting their Meister. Your souls literally lock in eternal trust. Then, you learn to master your Soul Resonance. It just gets better." Soul added, shoving his hands in his pockets.

We were silent for the rest of the way. We approached the mountain of steps leading to the DWMA courtyard. There were so many people here... Everyone who wasn't already well established with their partner had a sticker that read "Meister" or "Weapon". I was lost in the sights of my surroundings when I was interrupted with a familiar voice.

"Hey. Akemi. I see you made it." I whirled around to see Kid, standing there with Liz and Patty at either side of him.

"Kid! I'm so glad you're here!" I called out, embracing him in a huge hug.

"Here. I got your Meister sticker. Let's start walking around and see what catches your eye." He took my arm and him and I started searching while the others went to class.

We seemed to walk for eternity. Ugh, what I would give to transform or spawn my wings... But, I had to push those thoughts away or things would get worse. Kid stopped walking, and put both his hands on my shoulders.

"Akemi, maybe we need to wait until next semester. I know you've been waiting all year to find a weapon, but maybe this is-" I cut him off.

"Kid! Look! What about him?" I stepped to the side of him and pointed to a boy against the wall.

I closed my eyes and switched on my specialized eyesight, a gift bestowed upon me by my mother, the Grand Witch. Opening them back up, I read his sticker... "Weapon". I dropped Kid's hand and walked over to the boy against the wall. Maybe this was my lucky break.
