A Final Goodbye

A guy`s plan to sneak away and start a new life on his own doesn`t go the way he wants it too.

He sat on the edge of the bed with his head in his hands, dressed in his motorcycle jacket and trousers. Behind him his girlfriend slept peacefully, every now and then making the odd snoring noise. In the other main bedroom, his brother and sister in law were fast asleep, snuggling together under the covers in a blissful dream that was only meant for them. For once, he was the only one awake in the house. Looking up to look directly at his own reflection in the mirror, he made his mind up. This was it. For definite this time. He was going to finally leave. Grabbing his bag full of clothes from the wardrobe, he kissed his sleeping girlfriend on the forehead and placed an envelope on the bedside cabinet. Closing the bedroom door slowly, he gradually tiptoed down the stairs and into the dark living room. Looking around it for the last time, out of his motorcycle jacket he pulled another envelope much like the one which he had left for his girlfriend but instead it was much thicker. Instead of only having one letter inside it like the one upstairs, he had crammed two letters into the small envelope causing it to look like it was about to burst. Placing it softly on the leather sofa in the living room, he wiped away the single tear which had started to run down his skinny cheeks as he walked through into the kitchen heading for the backdoor and his escape.

The End
