Jaycee Lee Hart and her brother, Daniel, are left home alone when their parents leave on a trip. Soon after a crazy night, Jaycee learns that there is more to the world then she knows. Will the supernatural forces of this world tear her apart from the one she loves or will it brign them closer together? Will the neighbor keeping an eye on them be enough to stop the chaos of the Bravehearts?
"Jaycee!" Mom yelled down the stairs. "I don't want to be late for my flight." I heard her bedroom door slam shut. Grabbing the suitcases I hurried up the stairs. My dad was sitting at the kitchen counter. He took the suitcases and silently walked down to his bedroom. Daniel flew up the basement stairs, his feet thundering against the wood. He was soaking wet with just a towel are his waist.
"You did this on purpose this time." he said.
"I don't know what you are talking about Danny. I didn't do anything." I crossed my arms across my chest.
"Oh really? Then who rearranged everything in my bathroom? Everything was where it belonged before I got in the shower and when I got out it was all rearranged." He slowed down to catch his breath.
"I refuse to even go in your bathroom because it has a permanent stench. It wasn't me. Maybe it's possible that you drank a little to much and you messed everything up yourself. We all know you love to blame me for your mistakes."
"That is enough!" Mom came storming down the hallway. "I don't want to hear another word out of either of you."
"He started it" I muttered.
"I am ending it." Mom yelled. She took a deep breath to calm herself before continuing. "You are both grounded for the next two weeks."
"What?!" I yelped. "You can't do that, it is so not fair."
"If you two are going to act like five-year-olds then I'm going to treat you like five-year-olds. Mrs. Nelson will be keeping an eye on you while we are gone."
"Are you kidding me?" Daniel asked. "Mrs. Nelson won't let us do anything fun. She won't even let us eat junk food."
"Right, if you eat something healthy you'll spontaneously combust." I laughed.
"You never know." He smiled. "Peas could be replaced by a ninja assassin with tiny bombs. If that happens then you really will combust."
"If that happens, and I'm not saying it will, then I will allow you to say I told you so."
"Hun are you ready to go?" My dad asked my mom.
"Yes, I believe I am." She looked around to make sure she had everything. "Alright you two come give me a hug." I walked over and hugged my mom. "You be careful while we're gone okay? No parties and-"
"Mom" I cut her off. "Don't worry, I know the rules and I'll be careful."
"I know." She moved on to hugging Daniel. My dad hugged me and told me to stay safe and follow the rules.
Daniel headed back downstairs to put some clothes on. I picked up the now full suitcases and carried them out to my parent's car. After everything was ready to go it took forever to get my mother to leave. She worried that Daniel and I would either get hurt or somehow find a way to hurt ourselves if not each other.
"Please no fighting while we are gone." Mom almost pleaded.
"I promise mom" I said. "We won't wreck the house."
"See ya in two weeks kiddo." Dad said.
I closed the door after my parents pulled out of the driveway. After a month of waiting they finally left for their trip. I had the house to myself except for my annoying older brother Daniel. Lucky for me though, Daniel was spending the weekend with his girlfriend. Retrieving my cell phone from my pocket I called my best friend.
"Jones residence, this is Tim." Her dad said answering the phone.
"Hi Tim, is Jamie there?" I ask polietly.
"Yes she is, one moment please." I waited patiently while he fetched his daughter. "Hello?" Jamie said picking up the phone.
"Hey Jamie it's Jaycee. Do you want to sleepover tonight? My parents just left for their trip."
"Sure I will. Can you pick me up?"
"Yup, I'll be there in ten minutes."
"Alright, see you then. Bye."
I slid my phone back in my pocket and went to get my keys. Slowing the truck to a stop at one of the few stoplights in town I fiddled with the radio. A brand new, cherry red, Chevy Silverado pulled up next to me. In the driver's seat was Jacob Braveheart, the biggest jerk in town. His dirty blond hair was buzzed shorter than normal. It was possible that he had it cut shorter to impress the girls that were already following his every step. Sitting next to him was his younger brother. Lucas Braveheart, the hottest guy in this town. I swear my heart might have skipped a beat. His crystal blue eyes never even looked my way. He reached up, running his hand through his shaggy blond hair. With his arm up, his chest was exposed. His scrappy cut-off revealed the thick muscles lieing beneath his fair, bronze skin. He laughed, showing his perfect smile. Dropping his arm half out the window, he look towards his brother and laughed again.
"Well well well" Jake threw the words in my direction. "What do we have here? Little Jaycee Lee and her crappy wanna be truck." I turned my gaze back to the stoplights.
"Shut up Jake" I said not looking back. After a moment I sneaked a peak at them. Jake had turned his attention back to the road. Luke, however, was looking at me. He leaned out the window so he wouldn't have to yell over his brother reving the engine.
"Hey Jaycee" He said with a smile.
"Hi Luke" I tried to manage a smile but I didn't quite get it.
"Don't listen to Jake." He advised me. "He's only jealous because you are the only girl in town that doesn't think he is the hottest thing on earth. Just about every other girl drools over his every move. I'm glad you're not one of them." He smiled again causing my heart to flutter.
"I know he isn't the hottest and isn't very nice." I said.
"So then who is the hottest guy?" he asked curiously. I didn't know how to answer. Those beautiful eyes seemed to smile as they waited for an answer.
"Just this guy I know." The words spilled out before I could stop them. His smiled dimmed a little. I could tell that it bothered him, but he didn't show it. The light turned green. He waved good-bye as they pulled away.
"Just a guy I know?" I said to myself as I started driving. "That just sounds great. Now he'll think I don't think he's hot. Well maybe...what does it even matter. He probably only talks to me because he brother is so mean to me right? I mean that's how most siblings are. One is a complete jerk then the other is the nicest person in the world. I really need to stop rambling to myself." I shut my mouth and turned up the radio. I tried not to think about Luke anymore. I had to focus on my plans. Pick up Jamie then go home and have a blast.
However hard I tried, I couldn't get those perfectly, perfect blue eyes out of my head...
