A bird sings the ending of the day

A bird sings the ending of the day

The sun sets in the new warmth of spring

A child sits sulking by the window

Dreams of far away places caught in her soul

The endless sky beckons her away

From the dull trappings that chain her

She sighs from her stomach

And settles her aching dreams

And surrenders to the chains

They are not as weighty as they seem
