You were my Valentine

You were once my dear valentine
So Tenderly, You held my hands
Together, We were quite inseparable
but now discarded like contraband

The day , each year, arrives unceremoniously
and only serves to remind
Love, like the past, can never be reached
And long ago was left far behind

With a perfunctory hug,and a terse smile
We greet each other so valiantly
Few words are spoken, the heart was sad
that we couldn't pass by silently

Yes, you are still my valentine
I greet the day with a sigh
I wipe a tear, pay my respects
and mourn that love has died

The End
