You Stand

I thought you cared,
I thought you'd cry.
But you just stood
And watched me die.

I thought you cared,
A loving way,
When Daddy left
I thought you’d stay.
I thought you’d tell
Me how and why,

But you just stand
And watch me cry.

I thought you’d tell
The truth to me.
The only voice
Of honesty.
I thought you’d hold
Me through the night

But you just stand
And watch me cry.

I thought you’d be
My hideaway,
You’d help me throw
The blades away.
I thought I mattered
To your eye.

But you just stand
And watch me cry.

I thought you cared,
A loving way,
And wouldn’t let
Me fade away.
But as I raise
My gun and sigh

You only stand
And watch me die.

The End
