Wounded Wings
Wounded Wings
©1996 Nick Robinson (FTH Ch 7, pg 98)
.
I found a bird with a wounded wing and nursed it back to health again
I healed its wounds and gave it strength, and then so soon away it went
I guess it seems it goes to show
With wounded wings they’re bound to go
And I guess it means it’s safe to say
Heal wounded wings - they’ll fly away
For a wounded wing on a crying bird, unable to sing but trying to be heard
Is like a wounded wing on a baby dove just trying to sing it’s songs of love
And to heal these wounds is my disease as the doctor of this aviary
I perform my knack of surgery and nurse them back so caringly
But I guess it seems it goes to show
With wounded wings they’re bound to go
And I guess it means it’s safe to say
Heal wounded wings - they’ll fly away
And sometimes I’ll hear the distant sound that these birds are still around
Sailing in along a searing breeze they sing their songs of being freed
But none stop in to sing hello, just spread their wings and off they go
But I remember what I did and how they got all I could give
So I guess it seems it goes to show
With wounded wings they’re bound to go
And I guess it means it’s safe to say
Heal wounded wings…they’ll fly away
