to love with words

Smother me in words of

as with a pillow in the night.

Forgive wild limbs that flail and kick before

my body capitulates

in a breathless fight.

Drown me in the flowing poetry

you use to fool me -

it's loud as thunder,

mellifluous as honey -

hold my head firmly under.

Slit my throat with sharp notes

in sucrose sweet lullabies.

Lay me down to sing in gurgling drone

as scarlet song trickles from weeping cut,

down to a heart that once beat

with the metronome of yours.

And now, hums out of tune alone.

The End
