woolen love

she turns patience into woolen love,

the knitter who works her deep devotion,

by my side,

each evening-tide,

each stitch is one more caring thought,

each row, another prayer.

her hands work with the rhythm of a ticking clock,

time well spent,

turning hours into works of human warmth,

all in carefully metered stanzas,

of knit one, purl two,

over, under, passing through,

the needles click, now and then,

the beat of artistry being done,

the ball of yarn

slowly yields itself,

becoming more than it was before,

as the caring heart

and the creative hand,

turns her tears into woolen love.
