Without end

Well sadly the world didn't end
and the cycle of life continued
To cause and effect we so succumbed
in the aftermath we're left subdued

But Why this despondency you ask?
Of life why I am not singing its praise
to be fixated on things inconsequential
and longingly at a mirage then gaze

You fail to recognize what's important
instead you chase after a wanton dream
It's a world that awakens while you slumber
a castle of sand by the waves wiped clean

This isn't your struggle alone you say
It is how life exacts its price
It's what we must pay for its passage
leaving us all with very little choice.

The End
