13. TheRiverTalker

the waiting world

the shortest line
is the line I always choose,
but the shortest line is almost always
the line that others always choose,
don’t you’s?
then we all stand in the longest line,
looking for a shorter line,
while we wait and wait and whine,
watching for that shorter line,
and when we do we go there too,
don’t you?
and then we wait and wait and whine,
and pine and pine for another shorter line,
wishing we had never left the line we left,
what are we to do,
me and you,
as we stand and stand in this ever longer line.
