Wicked Lullaby

It follows on from the themes of my work "Together In The Dark" and the hold which addiction can have on us

Beauty is toxic in the eye of the beholder

Again I'm falling for destruction's sweet spell

The flash of memory and bleach won't take it away

I'm falling in love with this idea of hell

Is it so wrong to take what was denied to me so long ago

Is it so wrong to lust after the sweet and most wicked of fruits

I'm given to hesitation and to corruption even more

I'm given to waking up, flying through the door

Let's go, let's take a breath and give ourselves to her

Let's go, let's surrender to death and be at peace with her

Sleepless nights to her wicked lullaby

All I can think of is the urge to die

I'm happy now, bittersweet lust ebbing from me

Standing in line for another taste, for something sweet

She is there before us, and we'll all kill to have her

All of us would destroy our hearts for her

Death is everywhere, mingled with dark romance

All I can sense is another way to fall down deeper

I can't wash the blood from my hands and I'm crying

But shedding tears for the causes of joy

Let's go, let's take a breath and give ourselves to her

Let's go, let's surrender to death and be at peace with her

Sleepless nights to her wicked lullaby

All I can think of is the urge to die

The End
