White Rose
Oh, you’ll never know how lucky you are
You’ll never see how blessed you are
until you compare yourself
to who you want me to be
Contained in your opulence
you smother me with tales of lust
you harm me with stories of love
which I wanted but could never have
Let me caress the velvet clouds
so I can feel something...
anything...
Let your hopes carry me when I falter
in a medicated stare at the electric lights
If I could stop letting my life unnerve me
I’d see you in breathtaking clarity
Let me lie upon the white roses
so I can know how it feels
to be alive
