Where Poison Is Welcome

It's about how people are never what they seem, and can turn against you in an instant

Everyday we see a mist and nothing but sharpened blades
I must believe that homeward bound we’re saved
Peering for a desperate glimpse through the haze
Who would’ve thought I’d be betrayed

A thousand enemies outside the house
A thousand trials, and I’m wearing thin
A thousand enemies outside the house
Are better than the one within

Do I dare to open my eyes and see what’s real
Do I dare to see your betrayal unfurled and revealed
When can I draw out the poison from my wounds
When can I cease to regret every love I ever lost

A thousand enemies outside the house
A thousand trials, and I’m wearing thin
A thousand enemies outside the house
Are better than the one within

And so the truth can come to life
Poison thrives where malice is welcome
And now I can see with open eyes
Poison thrives where the heartless survive

The shade of a friend exposed, burning in the light
And now I’m thanked with a knife in the back
Our brotherhood a lie, nothing is real to me anymore
Poison thrives in the absence of light

A thousand enemies outside the house
A thousand trials, and I’m wearing thin
A thousand enemies outside the house
Are better than the one within

The End
