What Did I Miss?

I have walked down this path before
And fallen into countless pits.
One is larger, and beckons me in
But I am faced with a buffet of hits.

"Stop! I need help out!" I've cried, while
Scraping the walls for somewhere to go.
Defeated, I lie my back against the dirt
Then rise at the sound of an echo.

Realizing the He was calling,
I scrambled onto my feet.
"Why are you in here, my child?" He asked.
But I replied with my pounding heart beat.

"I can help you out of here,
So this you must know," I was told.
"To avoid this pit, all you must do
Is take the other road."

The End
