we are drenched

rain makes me paranoid.

empty gray rain makes me think the sky is

pressing hard against the windows with emptiness and

i’m going to explode.

black masks and plaid

thunder is more comforting

somehow,

it reminds me of things that are alive

and healthy,

not like the soggy bottled squids in

the biology room

or the people we learn about in european

history.

you were sick all last week:

images of

your neck and

your nose and lips

keep flashing across

the reflections that dance

on the window when

the lights begin

to flicker;

your eyes could be a deep and dark storm

or the clearest of skies

The End
