Wait!

Don't move!

I want to shout.

I can't,

They won't listen.

I have a poem to write

I must scream,

Stop moving!

They can't hear me.

A line, one stanza,

It must be done.

Now I'm stuck with the rhyme.

Stay still; keep your place up there.

I have laundry to fold.

A shirt, a skirt and two more socks.

I'm done, please wait!

Running around,

Holding,

Folding,

Sweeping,

Washing,

Don’t rush! Please wait!

Why do they have to run so fast?

Why can't they hear my entreaties?

I'm begging you,

The hands of the clock,

Please wait,

Don't be so fast,

I have so much work to do.
