Imagine, if you can, an innocent cat -
Its eyes sparkle against the light,
Its purity withholds its fierce might -
Against the mirror, he majestically sat.
He gazes avidly at this reflective glass,
Upon this image he does hiss and growl;
This strange relevation makes him scowl.
To love oneself is an impossible task.
Imagine, if you please, if this was real life
To meet another who reflects your image;
Your identical appears at every stage.
You would attack this double with a knife.
To meet your equal is something to rebuff -
Especially if this is a person whom you love.
