Unfinished Business

A story left unfinished, a sentence left unsaid;

A heartbeat left unbeaten, a tear left unshed.

A waltz left undanced, our song remained unsung;

A memory only half formed and a photograph unhung.

A hurt left painless, a scar left skin deep;

If only it was you that I could forever keep.

A sad song left on a happy note, a tune left mid breath;

A clap left unsounded, a rumor left unfed.

A marathon left mid run, a squabble left unfought;

All through it was only you that I had sought.

A hurt left painless, a scar left skin deep;

If only it was you that I could forever keep.

A love left incomplete, a feeling left unfelt;

A sun left unrisen, a moon left unset.

If only ours had been a fairy tale, if only it hadn’t gone stale;

If only you’d been available when my heart had been on sale.

A hurt left painless, a scar left skin deep;

If only it was you that I could forever keep.

The End
