UNFAIR

A LIGHT HEART POEM

THE BLOOD DID TRICKLE DOWN MY CHEEK

IT FORMED A RED POOL ABOUT MY FEET.

SHE LOOKED UNMOVED AT HIS DEFEAT

I THEN SAW THE PANIC IN HER EYES

SHE BEGAN TO RUN

BUT I WAS NOT TO BE DENIED MY FUN

I CAUGHT HER BEFORE SHE HAD MADE TEN YARDS

THEN WE MADE LOVE BENEATH THE STARS

ONCE OVER I LEFT TIERD AND DRAINED

AND MADE MY WAY BACK HOME AGAIN

MY WOUNDS HAD MADE ME TIERD AND WEAK

AND I WAS DROPPING ON MY FEET

I LAY ON MY SIDE AND SCRATCHED THE DOOR

I SLOWLY DRIFTED INTO SLEEP

I WAS CAREFULLY LIFTED ONTO MY SLEEP

THE SURGERY LIGHTS DAZZLED AS I AWOKE

NOW I STARE IN WONDER HAS I GO TO SLEEP

AT WHAT WAS ONCE THERE BETWEEN MY BACK FEET

I HAVE BEEN DOCTORED

ITS A DOGS LIFE

The End
