Unaphorismable
A couple of years back, my English teacher told us to write a personal essay defining poetry for us. This was my smart-ass answer.
Poetry, say some, is words of music
With rythmn and rhyme
Structure and time
They flow through you mind with tones in their wake
Poetry, say some, makes you feel
Moods and thoughts
That you never sought
Evokes the fear and joy of times long gone
Poetry, say some, helps you see
Pictures and sights
Of darkness and light
Lands unseen erupt in halls of your mind
Poetry, I think, can be what you want
Freeverse and sprawling
Obeying a calling
A concept or story
Language’s glory
Unaphorismable
