day one

A poem, a day. Can't be that hard, right?

One of my New Year's Resolutions this year is get back into poetry and explore new styles. This is my attempt at doing just that. This collection will be a mixture of different styles - free verse, sonnets, blank verse, couplets, haikus, odes and more! And if all goes well, by the end of the year, I'll have a whole 365-poem collection.

sinful smile

He smiles
And I break
All over again
Like the first time

There's something more
To those haunting green eyes
Its got me hooked
To a secret I'm yet to find

And I search them
Look past the forest
Step through the thorns
In through the trees

I didn't know
That his truth so ugly
Would trap me
With its crooked guile

In too deep
To find my way back
The darkness had covered
All the tracks

What must I do
What must I say
To free myself
From this destructive way

But he brings me closer
Chains me to the Earth
With no means to escape
I unfurl

His sinful beauty
I thought to admire
Sought to destroy me
Through my desires

He smiles
And I break
All over again
For the last time.

The End
