Traveling
It began with the initial leap.
The opening of the novel
and turning of the pages
that sent me tumbling from reality
into the great unknown.
I plunged deep beneath the surface
of eloquent descriptions and witty dialogue
that were caught between the must and stains
of timeless endeavors.
Suspense pulled me upwards,
so that I could know the solution.
But once the last page was through,
the depths where my thoughts had reigned
seemed more inviting.
This reality seems so jarring,
an unpleasant ray of light.
But my senses adjust,
refreshed by the plunge,
and changed by the journey.
