Today is the day that the world began again

Today is the day that my old life ended

No excuses. No old decisions defended.

I turned my face to the wind and, taking a quick breath

I inhaled a lungful of new ambition

No more staying put. No more holding back.

Pushing myself forward. Not just holding position

And then the clouds opened and the sun broke through

The rain easing off, then ceasing to fall

And the rest of my life began right there
