To Death

I have looked death in the face
Its harsh, unforgiving, and cold
Steals away your kith and kin
without remorse for the young or old

Your tears might drown a world away
but death shall remain unfazed
greedy mistress that stakes her claim
until even your memories are erased.

Such power over all forms of life
Helpless, we watch with dismay
With impunity death comes to take all
Before it, mortals and gods humbly obey

The End
