To Be Human

The goings on in my head at 2 in the morning

We walk this path, unnoticed
Our eyes downcast and grey
Sidestepping, shuffling out the way
To avoid each others pain.

What if, for once, we all looked up
And saw the faces of our foes
And realised the enemies we saw
were not just our own.

And then to be just unafraid
To smile and take someones hand
To work through worries fear and hate
To never be alone.

Take notice of the people
You walk past each and every day
And don't judge them on what they look like
But accept them for what they say.

For the pain would be halved, or more
If people only learnt
It doesn't matter, race, sex, love or life
For we are all human, nothing less

The End
