Time (riddle poem)

It controls us

With the crawling of a hand

Around a clock face

The ageing of man

Its kindness lets us live

Its cruelty takes life away

Will the next breath be your last?

Will you live for one more day?

It holds within it memories

Of the past and what once was

It carefully plans your future

Your death and its cause

Humanity is held in its grip

It lets us live just so we die

As surely as grass will grow

We are surrendered into the jaws of time

The End
