Spun Sugar

Your words like spun sugar

Of the lightest quality, tinted pink

Wrapping themselves round

And round my heart

Those clouds of spun sugar

Sweet fatality, temptation at its highest

Intangible grip of threads so fine

Yet somehow I am

Falling in

I cannot escape

Your breath of spun sugar

Like spun sugar you had me holding

Onto you like a child at carnival

Clutching the rosy wisps of

Cotton candy to my heart

Memento of innocent love

Reminders of good times

Long gone

Like spun sugar you left

Your saccharine words drifting day by day

Until, like that child after carnival

All I have

Was the sticky mess your cotton candy words

Left behind

The End
