A Last Farewell

Faces of the future

Bright with hope

The confident gaze of

The young women they’ve become

Walk the last walk down the corridor

So much laughter, so many tears

Taking their books up for the last time

As they say farewell to the year

They danced, they sang, they celebrated

They were the chosen ones

Through misted eyes and shaky voices

They recounted the past years’ fun

The bell rang loud, a last farewell

They looked around one last time

Then took a step into the world

Under our outstretched arms

The last few years have gone so fast

We’re so close to the end

Next spring it’ll be me crying

Us parting

All wondering if we’ll still be friends

The End
