Ticking Away the Life
The face of the clock was
Mechanical reflection of my own
Clicking its pointy tongues
For all eternity
Another tick marks
The moment a dream shattered
Impossible now that time
Had taken another tock forward
All happiness is tethered
Not to memories but to moments
Preserved eternally only
In the pages of history
I gaze at that uncaring face
Flipping the pages of recorded joy
Impassive as ever in its duty
It clicks away another eternity
