They Said It Was a Movement

We were learning about Nazi Germany in class the other day.
And I must say, I was thoroughly disgusted.

They said it was a movement
The said it was too true
That all these people that we call friends
Were something we no longer knew.

They're rats, they say! They're dirty!
They must be put to rest!
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust,
Remember, child, father knows best.

But what they don't know is
love is the revolution,
Love is the movement,
Love is redemption.

Begone, all you dark eyes!
Pure blue must take your place.
Brown curls and a coming savior
Are replaced by a pale face.

Shipped off away from home
Given false hope and bread crumbs,
Given fatal sicknesses and beatings,
Waiting for when the new day comes.

The bombs are coming, and so is death
How they support this? It can't be true!
The shadows are painted on sidewalks!
It's amazing, all the things we do.

But what they don't know is
Love is the revolution,
Love is the movement,
Love is redemption.

The End
