There's Something Sombre about Today

A little poem about how I felt looking out onto the sunset today. This is my first real venture into poetry, so perfection should not be expected. I hope you enjoy it.

There's something sombre about today.

But what it is, I could not say.

Perhaps the sky, in orange dyed.

Perhaps the trees, that sway outside.

Perhaps the grass, in darkness veiled.

Perhaps the moon, in sun's wake trailed.

No matter what I see or say,

There's something sombre about today.

I see her eyes

In paling skies.

I hear her voice

From clouds turquoise.

She spoke so light

In the coming night.

But those were lies,

I would surmise,

And reaped my tearful cries.

Despite my pride,

I must confide

My heart is there to stay.

And no matter what I see or say,

There's something sombre about today.

The End
