There Are Nights I Lie Awake

Believing in someone long after they have given you reason not to.

I lie in the cool, quiet darkness and squeeze my eyes tight,
But sleep does not come.
Instead of sweet dreams and lullabies,
I see visions of you, tender and pure.
These memories are like a fading summer –
Heartbreaking and beautiful, unwelcome but true.
There are nights when I lie there believing that I no longer have faith,
But then I remember –
I always have faith.
Faith is my constant.
Faith is my belief.
I always have faith in you.

The End
