The Summer Poetry Tournament 2010
WELCOME...
... to the fifth seasonal Poetry Tournament.
Over the last year we have seen four different hosts, four different champions and a multitude of impressive poetry. We expect no less this Summer for our fifth bout of poetical challenges and boy do we have some surprises for you.
This Summer you will be tackling poetry in a new way. We encourage you to bring an open mind and heart for you will need both to survive this battle of wits and will.
For the first time all poets will compete in the first three rounds, giving everyone a chance to get a real taster of the Tournament. Round Three will see our first eliminations, from there on in you will have to fight to survive in the final rounds.
Inspired by the point system facilitated in Smac972's Spring Tournament '10, we will be incorporating a critique form that our panel of judges will use to scrutinize each of your works.
We hope you enjoy the challenges that we have created for you and most of all we hope that you learn to look at poetry and the world in a new way.

Challenge One 22nd August - 24th August
Write a limerick on the subject of your pet peeves. Be as funny as you can, make us all laugh right out loud, but please keep it clean.
Challenge Two 26th August - 29th August
Write an Epitaph in a Tanka. The trick is you have to write it in ABC poetry form too!
Challenge Three 31st August - 4th September
Write a horror ballad! Scare us!
Challenge Four 7th September - 11th September
Challenge Five 14th September - 19th September
Finals 22nd September - 25th September
