The Suffering I've Known
It’s easy to doubt and to destroy ourselves
To shatter our hearts and claim we’re different
How easy it is to find a black cloud in our hearts
How easy to create our own little piece of hell
I’m another tragic soul upon a pedestal
I’m another marching to a different drum
Another angel sentenced to fall
Another heart that’s lost to the dark
Because all that I’ve known is pain
All that I’ve known is emptiness
The skies in my own mind a pale grey
My friends warned me against self-destructive love
But I just love to repeat the same mistakes
The beasts in my heart despise the dark
And fear the days
She gives me another reason to doubt myself
But when she’s gone my heart breaks again
I’m bound to the cycle of suffering
Bound to feel the endless despair again
Because all that I’ve known is pain
All that I’ve known is emptiness
The suffering I’ve known is a comfort to me
The suffering I’ve known is a release to me
It’s so easy to endure and to despair
To feel wrecked and broken in time
To believe that there’s no-one left to care
To think that I’ve already lived the best of my days
Because all that I’ve known is pain
All that I’ve known is emptiness
The suffering I’ve known is a comfort to me
The suffering I’ve known is a release to me
