Die Another Day

the weekday sun is on its way
heralding Monday morn
my soul prepares to die another day
as working clothes are worn

it’s growing up, the adults say
moving to the rhythm of the horn
still, it seems a hefty price to pay
twenty-some years after being born

and so life fades and wastes away
the days are all forlorn
until there comes a weekend day
when this masquerade is shorn

The End
