The Sounds of Love

For Karren, St Valentine's Day, 2011

The gentle sounds of breathing
Car doors closing, engines dying
Familiar footfalls over creaking floorboards
In these the sounds of love are sighing.

The softly murmured “Mmmms” of waking
The “chush” of fingers stroking hair
The laughter shared in “child-like” secret moments
The sounds of love are present there.

The ease of sofa springs and leather
Creaking love, as hands entwine
The tinkling sound of door keys turning
These sounds of love are yours and mine.

The End
