The Song Suggestion

Whilst listening with others,
I make a bold suggestion
Of a certain song which I hold dear.
Introducing others to music I love-
A dangerous quest.
An exposure of the soul.
So this is how I find myself,
Stuttering, faltering, apologising
For the mediocrity of the piece.
Before the song begins I start
To doubt myself, doubt this confession
Of something too great a part of me
To show so freely.
Their expectations drop immediately
And before beginning, they cannot see
The beauty of the song
And how precious it is to me.
The song begins and I sigh.
I have put my innermost feelings on show
With the song and all it entails.
Now they judge me with the music
And I know
I have revealed too much.

The End
