The Ships Sailing Home

It's about helping a friend out in their time of need, even if it's just a friendly pat on the shoulder

The grey skies seem to gather momentum around you

As your soul's trapped in a wall of storms

But here I stand, a friendly helping hand

Here's to easy living, not sinking into the sand

Cold fires in your heart, slowly turning warm

Come away from the dark my friend, turn to face the dawn

Here's to hesitation

Here's to the ships sailing home

Seldom have we had cause for celebration

Here's to the heart's urge to roam

Our fates together, intertwined forever

Friendships tested in the storms that can sever

I tried to delve into the hazy waters of your head

I was better off letting you swim instead

I should let you open up to the joy that remains

In this complicated, cold life of ours

I should take your hand if you want to be saved

A friend fighting to live every precious hour

Here’s to hesitation

Here’s to the ships sailing home

Seldom have we had cause for celebration

Here’s to the heart’s urge to roam

The End
